Project Description Senator Byrd and members of the West Virginia Congressional Delegation recently hosted a special reception for the Turkish Ambassador to
the United States, Mr. Baki Ilkin, and the new U.S. Ambassador to Turkey, Mr. W. Robert Pearson. Project Goal
This reception was designed to raise the awareness of the Appalachian-Turkish Trade Project with Members of Congress, especially those from the 13-state Appalachian region. |
|
|
At the reception, Senator Byrd noted,"As we work to improve ties between Appalachia and the Republic
of Turkey, this event provides Congressional representatives with the opportunity to get to know the ambassador. As the chief representative of his government to the United States, Ambassador Ilkin is
in a position to better identify potential areas for cooperation between the Turkish Republic and the Appalachian region." The new U.S. Ambassador to Turkey, Mr. W. Robert Pearson,
also attended the Congressional reception. |
