Clinical Addition at the Huntington VA Medical Center My efforts to help establish the
Marshall University Medical School bear directly on the clinical addition to the Veterans Affairs (VA) Center that was dedicated in June 1993. When I learned of the need for renovations to the main hospital and a clinical
addition, I helped to make it possible, through my work on the Appropriations Committee. The clinical addition, completed in June 1993, doubled the size of the facility from 274,000 square feet to 477,000 square feet. This
expansion was imperative to meeting the increased complexity of the medical care provided at the hospital. The modern addition provided needed space for surgery, radiology, laboratory, cardiology, nuclear medicine, rehabilitation
medicine and intensive care. The project also included the construction of a 350-car parking garage to provide veterans with easier access to the Medical Center. |
