Research Addition at the Huntington VA Medical Center Medical care has advanced a great deal
in recent years thanks to medical research, the often invisible part of the health care services provided to modern day patients. Research provides a better understanding of the causes of and cures for diseases. It can make
living with an illness easier and increase the odds of surviving often fatal diseases. My most recent effort in behalf of the Huntington VA Medical Center was the addition of a new four-story, 35,154-gross-square-foot
research facility. With the enhanced research capabilities made possible by this state-of-the-art facility, the new addition is helping to provide improved care to the veterans of the tri-state area by focusing on those problems most
prevalent among the Appalachian veteran population -- heart disease, diabetes, lung disease, infections, neurological disorders, cancer, aging, rural health care, and preventive health care. |
