VA Medical Centers in West Virginia

For veterans, the local VA medical center is normally the first step in accessing your health care options.  If you are having difficulty in making an appointment at the local clinic or hospital, finding transportation to the medical facility, or gaining admission to a VA hospital, my staff may be able to help.  There are four medical centers in West Virginia from which veterans can choose:  Beckley; Clarksburg; Huntington; and Martinsburg.

BECKLEY VA MEDICAL CENTER

Affiliations:  West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg

Authorized Beds:  112 authorized (46 medical, 12 surgical, 12 intermediate and 42 nursing home beds)

Type of Facility:  General medical/surgical

Special Programs:  ICU, nuclear medicine, respiratory care, oncology treatment unit, respite care, mental hygiene clinic, nursing home care unit, rehabilitation medicine bed section, and two veterans outreach centers (one in Beckley, the other in Princeton)

Special Programs:  Intermediate care, ambulatory care, nuclear medicine, geriatric evaluation unit, rehabilitation medicine, mental health clinic, veterans outreach, cardiology, drug treatment, infectious disease, prosthetics, research and development, alcohol treatment, satellite outpatient clinic, audiology, cardiac catherization lab, inpatient psychiatry, acute dialysis, endoscopic surgery, oncology/hematology, pulmonary, and geriatric/gerontology

There is also a new primary care clinic at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston affiliated with the Huntington VA Medical Center.  More specialized needs are still treated in Huntington.  The clinic, located in Suite 105 near St. Francis' emergency department, is open weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Appointments are required.
