Requesting a United
States Flag Flown over the Capitol
I am happy to arrange to have an American flag flown over the United States
Capitol for my West Virginia constituents. However, because of the
overwhelming number of requests received by Congressional staff, there may
be lengthy delays in processing orders. I ask you to please be patient
when you order a flag.
To request a flag, please contact me in writing at: 311 Hart Senate Office
Building, Washington, DC, 20510.
Be sure to include specific details, such as the name of the person or
organization the flag is being flown for, the occasion, your mailing
address and daytime phone number, and the address of the person or
organization receiving the flag.
You can request that a flag be flown over the U.S. Capitol building on a
specific day of the year. To guarantee a particular date, orders should be
placed at least four (4) weeks in advance due to the lengthy screening
process of mail delivered to Congressional offices. Each flag is
accompanied by a certificate, suitable for framing, verifying that the flag
was flown over the United States Capitol on that date. Please allow
four to six weeks for the flag to be delivered to you.
If you are not partial to
a specific date and wish to expedite your request, you may request a
pre-flown flag, which has already been flown over the U.S. Capitol. I
am happy to enclose a personalized certificate with this option as well.
The flags are made in the United
States and are not provided at
taxpayer's expense. Please send a check or money order -- do not send
cash -- made payable to the "Keeper of the Stationary," and
indicate the type and size of the flag you prefer.
The prices are as
follows:
-- 5x8 cotton = $28.05
-- 5x8 nylon = $26.05
-- 3x5 cotton = $17.30
-- 3x5 nylon = $17.05
Requesting a West Virginia Flag Flown over State Capitol in Charleston
Unfortunately, my office
is unable to process requests for West
Virginia flags. If you are interested in
purchasing one, please send your inquiry to 1900 Kanawha Boulevard, East, State
Capitol, Room 60, Charleston,
WV, 25305.
Be sure to include specific details, such as the name of the person
or organization the flag is being flown for, the occasion, your mailing
